Sir Galan rides into the encampment holding onto Alex, trying not to jar the lad too much.
The near-unconcious Alex moans in pain. Her face is very pale.
"Hold on, Alex. We're at the camp now!" Galan says urgently. He orders a soldier to take Alex as he dismounts, then takes Alex back and carries him to the healer's tent, leaving his horse to be taken care of by those who's job it is to do so.
Once inside the tent, he lies Alex down gently, and a healer imediately begins to examine the boy's wound. Galan was knowedgable enough to assist.
[glow=red,2,300]Tearing open Alex's tunic, it is discovered the boy is actually a girl. o.O The healer looks shocked at Sir Galan.[/glow]
Galan only hesitates a fraction of a second, and says firmly to the healer. "Thou wilst reveal this to no one. You understand me? Wether Alex is male or female, she hast saved my life twice now. She is still my squire, and thou shall save her!"
[glow=red,2,300]Nodding, the healer continues his administrations.
Later:
"I hast done what I could for your squire, Sir. The rest is up to her and God."[/glow]
"Thank you healer." Regretting he has to go attend to business, Galan gives instruction that he be notified imediately when Alex awakes, then he leaves for his tent were others awaited him to discuss strategy for the next battle.

A couple hours later, the meeting is over, and Galan sits alone in his tent checking over his platemail for any damage that needed repair.
He hears someone hesitate at the front of his tent. He gets up and peers out to see a young page standing there. "What is it, son?"
[glow=red,2,300]"Sir Galan, healer Talbot sent me to inform thee that thou squire is awake."[/glow]
Galan thanks the page and quickly heads for the healers tent. When he goes in, the healer bows to him, then makes himself scarce as he kneels down beside Alex and takes her hand.
Alexis opens her eyes and sees him. "sir... thou art alright." Her voice is weak, but there is obvious relief in it.
Her concern for him touched Galan, and his voice is thick with emotion as he says, "Yes, and I needest thou to be...."
He frowns slightly not know what to call his squire now that he knows he is a she. "What is thine real name?"
Alexis blinks in confusion, then realizes... Oh, no! He knows! "alexis... alexis trueheart."

Tears well up in Alexis' eyes as she tells Sir Galan her name. "i'm sorry i lied..."
"Hush Alexis!" Galan brushed a stray strand of hair from Alexis's face. "Just concentrate on getting stronger. Everything is alright. Your secret is safe with me."
"but... i can't let you risk your honor..."
"I said 'Hush'!" Galan gently placed a finger on her lips. "We can worry about honor when you're back on your feet!"

Alexis nodded in compliance to Galan's instruction and closed her eyes feeling very wary.
"Rest now, I'll be back tomorrow morn if I can." Galan spoke as he rose then left Alexis so she could do as he said and rest.
Alexis watched him leave. He's not angry at all with me for my deception! He risked his honor in the first place to let a peasant be his squire... what will happen when everyone finds out I'm not even male?
Still weak, Alexis couldn't think long on that as she drifted to sleep.

The next morning came and Alexis woke feeling stronger. The healer had come in and given her some stew that night which was an unexpected treat since someone of her standing usually only got the field rations. Yet she was just as hungry this morning as she had been the past few months.
Alexis began to cautiously sit up, holding her hand over her chest where the arrow she had taken for Galan had pierced her. She sat there, not moving, for the movement had tired her. Then the tent flap rose and she looked up.
"Sir!"
Galan smiled brightly as he carried in a tray. "I see you are feeling stronger!"
He sat the tray before her. "They give me way to much to eat. I thought perhaps you would like some."

Alexis smiled brightly. "Yes, sir! Thank you." She began to wolf down her food, forgetting her manners in her hunger.
Galan smiled as he sat down and waited for Alexis to finish eating. He figured it'd take about 20 bites before she would realize she wasn't eating proper. He didn't feel like correcting her. He was just happy she was alive and getting stronger.
Galan was close in his estimate, it took 24 bites for Alexis to stop in mid chew with her eyes wide. She peered over at Galan red faced and saw him hiding a smile. She smiled a sort of half smile, and straightened and began eating like a civilized person.

Once Alexis is finished eating, Galan asks. "Do you feel strong enough for travel?"
Alexis blinks. "I suppose if it's necesary... I still feel kind of weak though."
"We just got an advance messenger. Another troup is coming to relieve us, and we shall be returning back to Yearnath."
"I'll manage... I don't want to slow anyone down. I'll go roll up my pack." She stands up and takes only one step before she starts to fall.
"Alex!" Galan catches her and gently helps her to lay back down on the pallet.
Alexis moans. "I'm sorry."
"It's alright." He gently reassures her. "We can carry you in the medicine wagon."

Several hours later, Galan's troup is on their way to Yearnath. It took three days to return.
((Move to Yearnath.))
